COVID-19 Community Relief Funding Application Open

It is with great excitement and appreciation that Mid-Plains United Way accepts a $25,000 grant from Union Pacific Railroad Foundation. These funds will be added to Mid-Plains United Way’s COVID-19 Community Relief Fund.


COVID-19 funding will be disbursed to partner agencies that have increased community support and/or have experienced significant impact as a result of the virus. Primary areas of focus are rent/utility assistance, food assistance, emergency shelter, children support services, community education resources and mental health services.


2019-2020 Mid-Plains United Way Partner Agencies: Lincoln County CASA, Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy, Community Action Homeless Prevention, Community Connections Mentoring, Community Connections Substance Abuse Prevention, Guardians of the Children, L2 for Kids, Lutheran Family Services, Nebraska Youth Center, Head Start, North Platte Kids Academy, North Platte Senior Center, Rape Domestic Abuse Program, The Connection Homeless Shelter and The Salvation Army.


Applications for COVID-19 Community Relief are currently open and will be evaluated by the Board of Trustees as they come in. There is no closing date for applications at this time.

Any funding remaining at the end of partner agency applications will be available as COVID-19 Community Relief Micro Grants for other local nonprofit organizations.


Mid-Plains United Way would like to send many thanks to Union Pacific Railroad Foundation for its generosity during such a difficult time in our community. It is partnerships like this that bring aide to those who need help the most – thank you.

Mid-Plains United Way’s general campaign fund is currently at 75% to goal with $175,518 raised.
