2nd Annual International Bazaar

North Platte CONNECT is excited to announce that its 2nd Annual International Bazaar will be from 4-7p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at the Platte River Mall in North Platte, NE.

This family friendly event is FREE to the public.

New this year, North Platte Connect will be partnering with Mid-Plains United Way and the Walmart Distribution center to host the International Bazaar.

This event is an effort to bring together the diverse cultures currently represented by individuals living in the Lincoln County area and beyond, allowing them to share their culture through food, music, dance and displays.

Individuals and families will be able to sample global cuisine, world music & dance, arts & crafts, cultural displays and a kids corner.

Last year, about 800 adults and children were in attendance. About 1,000 individuals in attendance are expected this year.

The following countries are currently signed up to attend this year: Japan, Philippines, South Korea, India, South Africa, Iran, Armenia, Syria, Brazil, El Salvador, Cuba, Mexico and Bahamas.

If you would like to represent your country of origin (or adopted country), please call 308-532-8870 or email unitedway172@gmail.com OR contact Yoko Lawing, founder of North Platte Connect: ylawing@gmail.com.

North Platte Giving Day for Mid-Plains United Way

Please consider Mid-Plains United Way, North Platte as your first choice for giving on North Platte Giving Day. You can make a donation to us at https://www.northplattegivingday.org/midplainsunitedway
Mid-Plains United Way is currently working on expanding the services that it provides to the 16 counties that it covers. This year, we are partnering with North Platte Connect to help with the International Bazaar that is free to the community. New projects that we want to add include Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which would provide a new book to children in our area every month. We are also organizing with Visit North Platte to hopefully create a travelling sports scholarship program for low-income children, giving greater opportunity for college scholarships and mentorship. Another program that we would like to add is an emergency fund for individuals to aid low-income families that are facing an unexpected crisis. In order to put these programs into action, we must exceed our fundraising goal of $285,000. The funds that we raise are distributed to 15 different non-profit organizations in our community:
Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska, Community Connections Lincoln County, Community Connections Mentoring, Guardians Of The Children- Flat Rock Chapter, Head Start/Early Head Start - Community Action Partnership Mid-Nebraska, Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful, L2 for Kids - Clothes for Youth, Lincoln County CASA, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, Nebraska Youth Center, North Platte Kids Academy, North Platte Senior Center, Rdap, The Connection Homeless Shelter, The Salvation Army North Platte, NE
Mid-Plains United Way strives to connect resources to build a strong, caring community. If you have an idea for a project, we would love to be a part of it.
