Mid-Plains United Way is currently working on expanding the services that it provides to the 16 counties that it covers. This year, we are partnering with North Platte Connect to help with the International Bazaar that is free to the community. New projects that we want to add include Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which would provide a new book to children in our area every month. We are also organizing with Visit North Platte to hopefully create a travelling sports scholarship program for low-income children, giving greater opportunity for college scholarships and mentorship. Another program that we would like to add is an emergency fund for individuals to aid low-income families that are facing an unexpected crisis. In order to put these programs into action, we must exceed our fundraising goal of $285,000. The funds that we raise are distributed to 15 different non-profit organizations in our community:
Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska, Community Connections Lincoln County, Community Connections Mentoring, Guardians Of The Children- Flat Rock Chapter, Head Start/Early Head Start - Community Action Partnership Mid-Nebraska, Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful, L2 for Kids - Clothes for Youth, Lincoln County CASA, Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska, Nebraska Youth Center, North Platte Kids Academy, North Platte Senior Center, Rdap, The Connection Homeless Shelter, The Salvation Army North Platte, NE
